US
President, Barack Obama, has commended the progress made by Tunisia with
the adoption of a new constitution which guarantees freedoms.
The commendation is contained in a statement issued in Tunis on Monday.
The statement quoted Obama as making the commendation when he spoke on phone with the head of the Tunisian government, Mehdi Jomaa.
Obama reaffirmed “the commitment expressed by the U.S. to continue backing Tunisia and its revolution.”
He expressed confidence in the capacity of Tunisia to complete the transitional process by holding elections this year.
