A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’
Court six on Monday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Sen. Nuhu
Aliyu for twice refusing to honuour its summons.
Aliyu is facing a three-count charge of criminal trespass, mischief and criminal intimidation filed by one Ikechukwu Akansi, his neighbor.
The court had adjourned its sitting to Feb. 3, to enable the senator make an appearance but did not attend.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Bashir Shittu, issued the order after the counsel to the complainant, Mr Victor Ewuzie, urged the court to compel the senator to appear before it having failed to do so twice.
The chief magistrate adjourned the case to Feb. 24.
When the case was first mentioned, the complainant had accused Aliyu of unlawfully and illegally trespassing on his plot located at No B1, Constitution Road.
Counsel to the complainant, had told the court that Aliyu had threatened to deal with his client and his friend, one Mr Ade Nathaniel when they confronted him on the matter.
According to him, since then the complainant and his family had been living in fear.
Ewuzie said that the offences contravened sections 342, 326, and 396 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State.
