Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi
The Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi
Amaechi, has said that though the Supreme Court judgement vindicated him
against his opponent in the 2011 election, Mr. Celestine Omehia, there
is no victor, no vanquished in the matter.
Amaechi explained that the court ruling
had provided an opportunity for everybody to join his administration in
the development of the state and the advancement of the people.
The governor, who spoke in a statement
by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. David Iyofor, said Friday’s Supreme
Court judgment was a sign that God was with his administration and
supporters.
He promised that his government would continue to work hard and better the lives of the people.
“Today’s judgment once again shows that
God is with us. As God has given us the opportunity to oversee the
affairs of Rivers State, we will continue to do so diligently and
tirelessly to better the lives of our people and develop the state.
“We will rededicate and focus more on
administering good governance to the people of the state and ensure that
our people continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy,” Amaechi said.
He appealed to Omehia, his (Omehia’s) supporters and the people of the state to work together with him.
Amaechi also praised the apex court for
its handling of the case, just as he expressed his gratitude to the
people of the state for their support after emerging victorious at the
court.
